About Nikki
It never seems like work….

I’ve loved drawing for as long as I can remember: so I guess I’ve never really had a job!
After graduating from Wellington’s Visual Communication and Design course, I set up as a freelance
illustrator in 1989.

Since then it’s been all go. I have done thousands of illustrations for anyone from small businesses
to multi-nationals. Some of my clients have included Telecom, BP, New Zealand Post, BNZ, Scholastic NZ….
to name a few.

Most of all, I love drawing for children. I’ve illustrated over 60 titles including children’s books and readers, including award-winning The Puriri Tree/Te Puriri. "The Seven Stars of Matariki" has been a finalst in the Sir Julius Vogel Awards. "That's not Junk!" was one of three titles Penguin has chosen to release internationally as a Q-Book in 2010. New titles for 2010 are "Hannah Banndanna's Hair" by myself, published by Scholastic and released in July: and "Starkey the Gentle Pirate" by Peter Bland/Steele Roberts released in September. Much of my publishing work has been for Huia (NZ), New Zealand’s premier Maori publishing company.

As for inspiration… I simply turn to our children.

I can personally sign and inscribe a selection of books I’ve illustrated.
If there is a title you want to purchase, please contact me.
